The Ontario Emissions Trading Registry has been established as part of Ontario's initiative under Regulation 397/01 to reduce emissions that create smog and acid rain from the electricity sector. The Registry provides a transparent mechanism for owners and traders of emissions derivatives to register, track, trade and document their transactions. It also serves as the mechanism for public review and comment on emissions reduction proposals in Ontario.
